Role Overview:
We are seeking a versatile and dynamic visual journalist to lead our creative teams specializing in multimedia, video, and photography direction. You will be a core part of our editorial leadership team, determining the look and feel of The Standard’s storytelling across platforms, and devising new formats and visual expressions for our journalism. You will recruit and lead the team responsible for all of the visual media on the site, devise new editorial features, and develop the training and workflows necessary to build on those plans.
You will lead a talented group of visual creators, collaborating closely with editorial staff to enhance storytelling through engaging visual content. You will oversee the collaboration of photographers on assignment, photo editors on duty, and visual editors across our social media and video desks, helping to captain the assignment, production and publishing of pieces in a variety of formats.
When news breaks, or the Big One strikes, you will leap into action, helping steer The Standard’s coverage of events and deploying critical resources with an eye toward quality, speed and innovation.
