The San Francisco Standard’s Partnerships team is growing with the addition of an Advertising Account Executive. In this role, you will manage the full digital advertising sales cycle: prospecting, leading presentations, creating proposals, closing business opportunities, and delivering post-sales campaign results. The ideal candidate will leverage our suite of digital advertising solutions to help clients achieve their business objectives while driving both new business and renewals for The Standard.
We are looking for an advertising sales professional with 3-5 years of experience who can build strong client relationships and consistently exceed revenue targets. This role does not require past publishing experience, as we're looking to innovate the traditional publisher-brand partnership model.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect: Generate new leads for medium and large businesses through cold outreach, networking, and building awareness among media buying agencies.
- Renew: Renew and extend existing campaigns, recommend new products and promotional opportunities while responding to objections and concerns with a solution-focused approach.
- Strategy: Scale our customer acquisition approach that capitalizes on industry verticals, seasonal buying patterns, and market trends to target similar-profile businesses, creating momentum within specific sectors and industries.
- Solution Focused: Educate prospective businesses on the value of our digital advertising suite including newsletters, display, and social. Additionally, grow our library of customer case studies to showcase our most effective partnerships and demonstrate best in-class strategies for new partners.
- Operational Excellence: Effectively forecast monthly revenue, while maintaining an accurate pipeline and contact list.
- Industry: Working knowledge of digital ad platforms, display ad specifications, and basic ad operations fundamentals including ad formats, best practices, tracking implementation and campaign performance metrics.
- Campaign Management: Guide customers through campaign launch (creative asset guidance, implementation timelines, analytics and tracking setup, and asset refreshes) and post-campaign reporting.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of business-to-business sales in advertising or media. Preferred experience in media buying but not required.
- Self-motivated and competitive drive, delivering high-quality, organized, and repeatable results with scale in mind.
- Superior presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Technical proficiency in Google Suite or Microsoft Office products.
Compensation & Benefits
- The base salary range for this role is $75,000-$110,000 plus commission. Final compensation packages vary based on experience and skillset.
